Sumatra is one of the most extraordinary coffee regions worldwide. The Northern part of Sumatra contains the globe's largest volcanic lake, "Lake Toba". This lake was created approximately 75,000 years ago from an explosion, possibly the largest volcanic eruption within the last two million years, depositing ash as far as East Africa.
The volcanic soil is extremely nutrient-rich and therefore ideal for producing exceptional coffee. Moreover, the natural drying method used in its production results in a very full body with a concentrated flavor, garnished with herbal nuances and a spicy finish. The coffee has a low acidity and a richness that lingers on the back corners on your tongue. Notes of chocolate are evident in the finish.
A tip: We recommend you to buy whole beans and grind the coffee yourself, once you need it for brewing. In that way you secure you get as fresh coffee as possible.
